GLORY IN THE CROSS

Galatians 6:11-15

What are you proud of?  Whatever it is, you find some way to bring it into conversation.  It may be something new, something you have, or something you can do.

Paul had several things he could have been proud of.  His heritage, citizenship, the good tings he had done for the church, and all that he had suffered for Christ.

But Paul was proud of the “Cross of Christ”.  The message of the Cross is not a popular message, but it is a great message.

Three Things the Cross Tells Us

  1. The Cross Tells The Depth of Human Sin

The cross had to be long enough to be propped in the hole and not fall over; but the real depth of the cross is revealed in the depth of sin.

There are over 50,000 alcohol related deaths each year.

Homosexuals coming out into the open

Murders, muggers, drive by shootings, rapes.

All these things just scratch the surface of the depth of human sin.

1 Corinthians 15:3 says, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.”

Revelation 21:8 shows us that we are guilty and that there is a place for those who don’t glory in the cross of Christ.

  1. The Cross Tells The Height of God’s Love

Sin is the second biggest thing in the world.  The only ting that is bigger is the Love of God.  Romans 5:20 …..grace abounded all the more…

** A child, in need of a operation to save his life, is taken to the hospital…the parents don’t count the cost…its not important…. What’s important is that child’s life be saved “at all costs”…

When we realize how much God paid for our sins by giving us His Son, we can then realize that there is something terribly wrong with the human race…and THAT IS SIN.

Romans 5:8….while we were yet sinners….  The Cross shows the height of God’s love.

  1. The Cross Tells of God Reaching Out

Paul could have been saved by many things – education, position, etc, if these things could have saved, but they could not.

If I am to be saved, it must be by making a full surrender to the Christ of the Cross.

The Cross shows the Depth of human sin and the Height of God’s love reaching out to draw us to Him.

Come home by way of the Person on the Cross,

Who had you on His mind…
