GOD SAYS, “OBEY MY VOICE”
Jeremiah 7:23-24
Jeremiah was to give this message at the Temple
Gate. "Amend your ways and deeds and don’t trust in deceptive
words."
Verse 23 –
“But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey
My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And
walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well
with you.’”
Two Positive Principles for Obedience
-
1
John 2:5 – The love of God has truly been perfected
-
1
John 3:24 – He abides in us and we in Him
Verse 24 –
“Yes they did not obey or incline their ear, but
followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and
went backward and not forward.”
Two Negative Principles of Disobedience
-
Ephesians 5:6 – The wrath of God comes upon the sons of
disobedience
-
Jeremiah 15:6 – You keep going backwards
Jonah’s situation………..went backwards
Abraham’s situation…….went forwards
God stepped up with what seemed like a cruel
assignment…”Kill your boy”.
This is the story about a man who knew that
obedience was more important than the potential losses incurred in
the sacrifice.
The story of the Bible is filled with this
principle:
If
you want to come into God’s presence, everything else, even your
most precious possession, has to be offered up to Him.
God was so adamant about this principle that he
was willing to lay down His unblemished Son on this altar.
When we hear His voice, we must obey in order to
stay on course with Him….
NOTHING ELSE REALLY MATTERS……
