HEARTS ON FIRE
Luke 24:28-32
On the road to Emmaus, Jesus came up and began to
walk with two men, but they were kept from recognizing him.
Sometimes, today, we do not recognize that Jesus
is moving in our lives or the church family because something keeps
us from recognizing him.
Here are some things that would keep us from
recognizing Jesus:
1.
Self – We think so much of ourselves and
our life that when God is trying to move, we don’t see him.
2.
Things – Sometime we put so much emphasis
on things and our attention is not on God.
In this story, Jesus acted as if he was going to
keep going on down the road, but the men urged him to stay with
them. They had a desire to be with Jesus even though they couldn’t
recognize him.
In our walk today, we should have that same
desire for the Holy Spirit to stay with us, for the day could almost
be over.
Jesus stayed and broke bread with them. Their
eyes were opened and he disappeared.
Jesus comes to us, breaks bread (give salvation)
and we don’t see him.
Once we have met Jesus the same thing happens to
us that happened to them…verse 33- “They asked each other, were
not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road
and opened the scriptures to us?’
a.
In your walk down the road of your life
with Jesus, is your heart burning with in or is it just a puff of
smoke now and then?
b.
When you read the scriptures, do they
speak to you and cause you to burn inside, or it is just another
book to read, getting nothing out of it?
These things happen when we don’t recognize Jesus
in our lives…
Are you burning inside to know more about Jesus?
Is your heart on fire for the Holy Spirit to move
among the church body?
We have been very excited in our last two worship
services, seeing the Holy Spirit move…does your heart burn for more
of Jesus?
As you pledge allegiance to the Lamb, is your
heart on fire enough to start a revival?
If you are not, maybe it is time you open your
eyes and meet Jesus Christ and let your heart be on fire for Him….
