The Validity of Your Testimony

 John 8:12-16

Before we take a look at our testimony, I believe we need to take a look at Jesus’ testimony first, since he is our example…

Jesus’ Testimony

  1. Light of the world – There is no other real light. All others who claim to have it, know all about it, and have the follow me attitude, are burned out light bulbs. They don’t have the “Real Light”.

  2. Follow Me and you will never walk in darkness, but have “The Light of Life”. – This means the light of eternal life. No one else can offer or give you this, and it be true.

  3. Jesus knew where He came from and where He was going. If your life here on earth was going to end tomorrow, and you knew it, would you know where you were going?

  4. Jesus knew who He stood with. (V. 16)

Our Testimony

We say we follow Jesus and belong to Him today. What does your testimony say to others?

  1. Is the light of Jesus shining from you bright enough for the people around you to see a difference?

  2. As you start a new year are you burying the past and dwelling in the present?

  3. If you knew your life here on earth was going to end tomorrow, do you know where you are going?

  4. Do you know who you stand with and for?

If our testimony is for and of Jesus, we must bury every fear of the future, of poverty for those  dear to us, of suffering, of loss.

Bury all thought of unkindness and bitterness, all our dislikes, our resentments, our sense of failure, our disappointment in others and our selves, our gloom and doom.

Let us leave them all buried, and go forth to a new and risen life.

Let us remember that we cannot see as the world sees.

**Jesus holds our years in His hands and if we follow Him, he will give us wisdom and strength and excitement to make a difference.

Who are you going to stand for this year?  Jesus or You?

What will your testimony say to others this new year?

One last statement.....

Refuse to be a downcast…the Light within is the dawn of the eternal day….
