DON’T BLAME GOD

James 1:13-15

In the Garden of Eden, God is talking to man about his disobedience. Adam says it was the woman’s fault, the woman, Eve, says it was the serpent’s fault.  Each trying to put the blame on some one else.

In effect, Adam was trying to blame God.  Men do what is right in their own eyes, then blame others for their sin. We cannot fool God. He will deal with our excuses.  Sin comes not from God, but from within…

Four Statements about Temptation:

1.   Temptation does not come from God

a.     God cannot be tempted

b.     God does not tempt men

When our excuses run out, that’s when we begin to blame God

2.   Temptation is a carrying away by one’s own lust.

Temptation is temptation when there is desire

When we sin it is because we want exactly what the sin entails.

Temptation appeals to our lusts and desire.

3.   Temptation leads to Sin

Desire can be nourished or stifled. The wrong yielding to the desire…

Psalm 1:1 – Three Steps to Sin

1. Walk in it,

2. Stand and contemplate it;

3. Sit and partake of it

When temptation is has conceived, it brings sin.

4.   Temptation can ultimately bring death.

To sin is to let our desires master us instead of our mastering the desires.

Is it worth it? Hebrews 11:25 tells that sin may be a pleasure, but only for a short time.

We are responsible for our own sin.

Don’t blame God for sin…thank Him for salvation….
