Prayer of Jabez – Part Four
Keeping the Legacy Ongoing
“Oh that You would keep us from evil.”
Oh that You would bless us indeed, that You would
enlarge our territory, that Your hand would be with us…. And now –
that You would keep us from evil.
Matthew 6:15 (in the model prayer), says:
“And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
This is now our petition for supernatural help to
protect us from satanic strategy to make us fall.
“Oh, I’m not going to fall because I have
Jesus on my side”....
Be careful…success in life brings greater
opportunities for failure.
-
Christian leaders who have fallen into sin
-
Bible leaders who have fallen…. David, Solomon, Sampson, Peter..
This last request is a brilliant strategy for
sustaining a blessed life.
Here is a conversation between a student and a
mentor:
The student’s life was going well. The student
said he was so tempted and tested he could barely keep his head
above water. Then he said, “But now, Praise God! – My life at
seminary has smoothed out. I’m not being tempted hardly at all!!”
The mentor, a Professor, said, “That’s abut the
worst thing I could have heard. That shows me that you’re no longer
in the battle! Satan isn’t worried about you anymore..”
I’ve told everyone before….”You did not accept
Jesus as Lord by faith, to sit down on that faith and do nothing.
We were redeemed and commissioned for the Front Lines!!!
**That’s why praying to be kept from evil is such
a vital part of the blessed life. You’re on the front line.
The legacy keeps on going – Jabez prayed it,
other have prayed it, and now we pray it.
Oh Lord, we plead, we have not resistance left,
we’re completely worn out (in Your service). We can’t cope with
temptation. Please, keep evil far away from us, today. (Just today,
not all year)
Jesus longs to hear our pleas for safe keeping
from evil..
A tiny indulgence of pride or self-confidence can
spell disaster…
