WHAT IT IS TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST

Philippians 3:7-16

 

Know, study, be with, and begin to act like…

 

To know a person you must be able not only to see the outside but also the inside. No, you can’t see what is on the inside of a person, but we are subject to feelings from the inside.

 

Paul gives us four reasons in this scripture about what it is to know Jesus Christ.

 

To Know Jesus is to:

  1.   Count all things to be loss in view of knowing Him. (Verse 8)

Paul says Jesus has become his Lord.  This means he has turned his whole life over to Christ and now has a righteousness, which comes from God through faith.

 

  1.   Is to attain resurrection from the dad (Verse 11)

Paul is now alive in Jesus and death has no power over him.  He knows the “Resurrection Power of Christ” which is part of God’s eternal salvation plan…. Romans 10:9b…

 

  1.  Is to press on for a reason (Verse 14)

    “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”….In pressing on, we forget what lies behind us and reach forward to what  lies ahead.

     

  1. Is to have a different attitude than before (Verses 15 & 16)

    1. Attitude of gratitude

    2. Attitude of willing service

    3. Attitude of a higher standard of living

 

 

To know Jesus Christ is to lose our life and take on His life…..
