STAYING ON COURSE

“Dedicated Service on the Course”

Romans 12:1-4

I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

For I say, through the grace given tome, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function.

I urge you therefore to do as we just read.  This is dedicated service.  In this passage there are three things that take place in the course of dedicated service.

Staying On Course With God…..

1.      You become a living sacrifice….to give yourself

You must present your bodies acceptable to God (Romans 6:12-13)

Verse 12: “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lust.

Verse 13:  “and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”   This takes “commitment”.

Psalm 37:5-6…Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it…..

Your sacrifice must be acceptable to God…Spiritual Service of Worship. Does God recognize your worship as acceptable to Him?

2.      You have a renewing of your mind….this means:

A renovation, which makes a person different than in the past. A new quality of life.

You need this renewing of the mind to prove what the will of God is. (Good acceptable, perfect)

            ***Proving it means living it…

3.      We become one body in Christ.  Though we don’t all look alike and act alike, we become one in Christ.

It takes doing the 1st and 2nd thing we talked about to be able to do the 3rd thing.  This causes a singleness of heart.  There is a reason for this singleness of heart.  Jeremiah 32:39-40…..then I will give them on heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them.  And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me….

We must make the total dedication of life (with honor) to Jesus to stay on course with Him.

**We have to look like Jesus, act like Jesus, to stay on course with Jesus..
