MAKING THE BEST OF THIS LIFE
Psalm 39:1-8
Anyone had a bad hair day lately? Something gone
wrong in your life and it got you down? Did the old devil get your
goat in the process?
We all have or have had some rough times in our
lives. Even if we had everything we ever wanted or needed, we would
still have a rough day at some point and time in our life.
How do we overcome those days? How do we make the
best of a worse time or day in our life?
Let’s not look at the vanity of life today, but
ways to make the best of this life…
Four Ways:
-
Always Speak of God (v-1)
The Bible says in verse one that we should guard
our mouth so that w won’t sin by something we say. Understand,
there will always be wickedness in this life, but we don’t have to
stoop to the level of the wicked by speaking like them. If we are
walking with the Lord, we can some up with something good to say.
-
Speaking of good keeps us spiritually and physically healthier.
(vs.2-3)
Tired of feeling down and out? You feel like your
got up and go just got up and went? In verse two, the Psalmist says
that when he refrained from good his sorrow grew worse. Even
though a word was burning inside of him, he just kept silent.
If the Lord gives you a word of encouragement for
someone else, speak it; you will feel better yourself spiritually
and physically. Where does your strength and healing come from
anyway, but the Lord.
-
Live is short. The best thing to do is live it for the Lord.
In verse 4, the Psalmist is asking the Lord to
tell him how long he was going to live and then realized n verse 5
that his lifetime in God’s sight was nothing. At our best, we re
only a mere breath. We are only sojourners in this life and while
passing through we re to make a difference for the Lord.
-
Don’t let anything else in this life be your hope. (Vs. 6-8)
The Psalmist says in verse 7, “And now Lord, for
what do I wait? My hope is in Thee.”
Without Jesus there is NO hope.
Understand that without Jesus you can’t wait on
Him or have this hope in Him. Accept Him today as your Lord and
Savior and know that your hope is in Him.
I’m just passing though, I’m on my way home.
How about you, don’t get left alone.
Come join us all as we’re marching on,
To praise and
worship the Lord upon His throne.
