AS HE IS, SO ARE WE, IN THIS WORLD

1 John 4:17b

Just nine little words…. the simplest possible form of speech.  The profoundest concepts of the Bible are often conveyed in the simplest of ways.

Three Pearls of Wisdom

I.    The Plan – As He Is!

a.   A Transformed Life – Christ’s incarnation changed the mode of His life.  He is now the man Christ Jesus – now in bodily form (changed from heaven to earth.)

b.   A Triumphant Life – Jesus had constant victories over devil, healing, four and five thousand feedings; over death.

II.    The Pledge – So Are We.

a.  A Transformed Life – Christ took over our kind of life, so we take His. Colossians 3:3 – “For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”  Colossians 2:6 – “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.”  The “transformed” life.

b.   A Triumphant Life –“We cans be victorious too!” How? 1 John 5:4-5 …For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith; and who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?  Our faith has overcome the world….who overcomes? “WE do”

III.   The Place – In This World

God wants us to live the Christ-life here and now.  How do we do this?  Colossians 3:1-2…..If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

a.  Keep seeking the things above.

b.  Set your mind n the things above.

And we will live the “Christ-life” here and now…..
