September 11, 2001 will forever be etched in our memory.

Within days, our email boxes were filled with poems,

stories and prophecies all concerning the effect the current event has

had on our lives.  I have to say that one of Max Lucado’s has really rung true

to my heart.  “Is This Normal?” asks a question that we

should all ask ourselves as well.

Our nation has been brought to her knees and those things

that seemed so important early on that Tuesday morning were not even a

distant thought by mid-morning of that same day. The “old” way of doing

things made way for something new.

We have exchanged our selfish, self-centeredness

for a heart for the hurting.  We have actually become the people that

God intended for us to be from the very beginning.  A people who have

come to Him on bended knee; a people who have reached out to

those we have never met; a people who have been

searching scripture for answers.

But most important, we are a people who are now living within

an attitude of realization. That realization is about how any one of our

lives can be transformed in a single moment.  We are not promised

tomorrow, or for that matter, even the rest of this day.

So in light of the current events,

do I really want life to “get back to normal?”,

or do I want to see our nation continue to go forward on her knees?

Indeed, this is something to think about….

Living By Grace,

Marti
