WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

Genesis 16:8a….. (The angel of the Lord is speaking to Hagar)…..Where are you going?

To answer this question, we need to set goals…..

What are some goals that you can set pertaining to: God; Self; Family
For Example:

  • God: My goal it to always put God first in all that I do.
  • Self: My goal is to learn to recognize the difference between what I want and what I need.
  • Family: My goal is to lead my family by "example" in the lifestyle that God desires for me.

Exodus 13:21-22
During the day the LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud to show them the way, and during the
night he went in front of them in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel night and day.
The pillar of cloud was always in front of the people during the day, and the pillar of fire at night.

Sometimes we don’t need to know where we are going…we only need to follow that pillar of light that God provides.

Here are some things that keep us from getting across our “Crossroad”.
  • Fear
  • Feelings
  • Failure (I tried before but it didn’t work)
  • Fate (this is just the way its suppose to be…it’s my fate)
  • Fatigue (I’m just too tired to go on)
One reason some people can not get through their crossroad is because others keep drudging up the past and it pulls them back….
When that happens, are we “helping” or “enabling”?
  • Helping: this is when someone can not do it for themselves…they “need” help.
  • Enabling: this is when they “can” do it for themselves but we step in and for it “for” them. (this results in their never learning to do it for themselves)
One way to get past each crossroad is for us to search our hearts….
At the end of the day, find a quiet place to be alone with God and complete the "Heart Search" below...

HEART SEARCH

1. Your Blessings:

Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Please take a few quiet moments to reflect upon God's blessings in your life. List some of your blessings:

2. Your Burdens:
Read Matthew 11:28-30 and Luke 10:38-42
List briefly, the trials and troubles you are facing now. (Family, health, finances, bad habits, ministries, loneliness, grief, anger, worry, etc.)

3. Your Bible's Promises:
Please prayerfully read Psalm 27 and Psalm 91 and write down the verses or phrases that are a comfort to you in regard to the burdens you listed above.

Now will you thank God for your blessings and trust Him with your burdens and ask Him to speak to you abut each one this week? Then thank Him that He always answers prayer so that you can sleep well, and continue looking forward to His directions each day.

"I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety".
Psalm 4:8
